On the 25th May 2020, George Floyd was killed by a white police officer in Minnesota in the United States. This unnecessary death of a black American man led to worldwide protests during a time of Covid-19 lockdown. The Black Lives Matter movement was given new energy and calls for justice and equality renewed.

At the start of June, Manchester based artist Akse painted this incredible tribute to George Floyd in the heart of the Northern Quarter, with the support of Out House Manchester.

Many thanks to Akse for not only painting such a wonderful piece, but for allowing us to share his photos here.
